Grown on the roof above you
Across this city there are roofs with nothing on them. We plant them. What grows there is picked in the morning and eaten the same day, a few streets from where it stood.

How it works
- The roof
- We reach an agreement with a building’s owners or its residents, and turn the empty roof into a growing site.
- The growing
- Plants grow without soil, stacked upward, so a small footprint carries a real harvest. Conditions are watched continuously.
- The packing
- Produce is packed where it grows. There is no wholesaler, no central market, and no depot in the middle.
- The basket
- A basket of what is in season arrives each week. What we do not send out goes to shops rather than to waste.
- What we doEmpty roofs become growing sites, and what grows on them travels a few streets instead of a few hundred kilometres.
- TechnologyRoots in water or in air instead of soil, stacked vertically, with the growing conditions watched around the clock.
- SustainabilityLess water, shorter distances, cooler buildings, and green where there was gravel and asphalt.
- Our impactWe create trained roles for people with disabilities, and we teach the neighbourhoods we grow in.
Why roofs
A city is full of flat, empty, sunlit surfaces that no one has any other use for. They sit directly above the people who will eat what grows on them. Nothing else in a city is both that unused and that well placed.
